UCO Season Ends In MIAA Quarterfinals

Bronchos Lose 91-52 To No. 1 Seed Washburn

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma's season came crashing to an end Thursday night in the MIAA Basketball Championship quarterfinals at Municipal Auditorium where the Bronchos lost 91-52 to Washburn.

UCO finished the 2025-26 season with a 17-16 overall record.

"We knew that was going to be a really tough task and we were up for it, but we just didn't have enough," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "They're a great team and you have to play great to beat and we couldn't do it tonight.

"I'm really proud of this team though," Hoffman continued. "We were dealt a tough hand all season and we did everything we could to overcome. I'm proud of the fight the team showed. To get to this point wasn't easy and these guys fought all year and I'm really proud of them."

Central Oklahoma fell into an early hole and never kept pace with the MIAA regular season champions and top-seeded Washburn squad that spent most of the season ranked No. 1 in the country. Washburn shot 58.6 percent from the floor, including a 50.0 percent rate from behind the 3-point line with 12 made threes.

UCO meanwhile shot just 31.3 percent overall and 10 percent from deep, making only 2 of 20 3-pointers.

Trey Tuck led the Bronchos in scoring with a career-high 13 points. The redshirt freshman from Stillwater, Oklahoma did that off the bench, playing 27 minutes and going 4-for-8 from the floor. He was also 5-for-9 from the free-throw line and he had six rebounds.

UCO's First Team All-MIAA selection Matthew Willenborg was hampered by two early fouls and only played 19 total minutes, exiting early when the game got out of hand. The junior forward finished with nine points and three rebounds.

Brady Hancuff also scored nine points to go with four rebounds. Josh Nwankwo scored eight. UCO got four from Chase Sucharda and Jayden Garces, three from Marcus Zeigler Jr., and two from Parker Hannah.
