Central Okahoma Kicker Tied School Record With 51-Yard Field Goal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma sophomore Joseph Kim was named MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week sponsored by Field Turf, the league announced Monday.

Kim tied a UCO record with his 51-yard field goal Saturday night against Washburn. The Lawton, Oklahoma native and Houston transfer also made a 45-yard field goal earlier in the game and went 4-for-4 on PATs.

Central Oklahoma beat Washburn 34-28 Saturday in Edmond. The Bronchos improved to 2-1 on the season and are 2-0 in the MIAA. Kim also made two field goals in UCO's 27-24 win over Pittsburg State two weeks ago.

In the second quarter, with UCO leading 21-14, Kim hit a 45-yard field goal into a south wind as time expired to give the Bronchos a 24-14 halftime advantage. In the fourth quarter, he connected on a 51-yard field to tie a 29-year-old school record. Ronnie Gulikers hit a 51-yard field goal in 1996 when UCO beat Texas A&M Commerce 38-21.

Central Oklahoma hits the road in Week 4, taking on Northwest Missouri Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Maryville. The Bronchos return home and will host Central Missouri Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
