Football Returns For Fall Camp

Central Oklahoma Opens Three Week Camp Ahead Of 2025 Season

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma opened its 2025 football training camp Wednesday as the upcoming season quickly approaches.

UCO kicks off the new season August 30 at UT Permian Basin in Midland, Texas. The Bronchos will play their home opener the following weekend, Sept. 6, against Pittsburg State at Chad Richison Stadium.

"Today went really well," UCO head football coach Adam Dorrel said. "There's only so much you can do on day one, but it went well. There was some good and some bad, but we got a lot accomplished."

Dorrel enters his fourth season leading the Bronchos. After starting 11-11 through two years, he led UCO to an 11-2 record in 2024, an MIAA title, and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. Central hosted a first-round playoff game for the first time since 1998 and won 38-31 in overtime in the first round. The Bronchos advanced to the Super Region IV semifinals and lost to eventual national champion Ferris State.

Dorrel returns 41 lettermen from last year's squad, including 12 starters. The Bronchos have seven back on the offensive side of the ball and five back on the defensive side. UCO also has four returning All-Americans.

Central Oklahoma will practice 11 times in the next two weeks before the first day of school on Aug. 18. The Bronchos will have another week of practice before settling into their game-week schedule Aug. 25 in preparation of the UTPB opener in Texas.
