Jubilation In Joplin

Central Oklahoma Beats Northwest Missouri 11-4 In MIAA Baseball Championship Game

JOPLIN, Mo. – Central Oklahoma beat Northwest Missouri 11-4 Saturday to win the 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship and earn the league's automatic berth to the national tournament.

UCO is 36-15 following the win. The Bronchos won three games in as many days to win the league's postseason tournament for the first time. Central has won one regular season title, in 2018.

"So proud of the guys for the whole weekend," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "We competed and gave it all we had and it went our way."

Central Oklahoma is headed back to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship for the second year in a row, and the fifth time under Martin, in his 10th season at the helm. The NCAA selection show airs Sunday night on ncaa.com and will reveal where the Bronchos go in the Central Regional next week.

Saturday, Central Oklahoma used big rallies in the second and eighth innings to put away the Bearcats. UCO scored four in the bottom of the second to take early command, then put five runs up in the eighth to put it away for good.

Aiden Proctor went 3-for-4 Saturday, with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. He also scored two runs. Ty Chapman was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and one RBI. Seven of UCO's batters had at least one hit and five had multiple hits in the game.

Caden Robertson went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple and a run scored. Orlando Gonzalez, who was named Most Outstanding Player following the tournament, went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Matt Baughn also had two hits. Ty Hammack and Grant Randall had one each to give UCO 15 in the game.

Dax Sharp started for the Bronchos despite a relief appearance Thursday in the quarterfinals. He threw 6.0 innings, giving up two runs on six hits. Tristan Wittau threw 1.2 out of the bullpen, giving up two runs on two hits. And Valek Cisneros finished it off, throwing 1.1 innings and not allowing anything.

Sharp struck out four batters, Wittau three, and Cisneros one, which ended the game and started a jubilation in Joplin.
