Bronchos Take Game 1 At Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma beat Rogers State 11-2 Tuesday in the first of three MIAA games between the schools over a five-week period.

UCO led 1-0 in the first and 3-2f in the fourth before a rally in the eighth put the game away. UCO led 3-2 before scoring eight runs on seven hits in the top half of the inning.

Central Oklahoma used eight pitchers to keep Rogers State in check on Tuesday. Caleb Burchfield got the start and gave up both runs in the bottom of the first inning. He only threw 2/3 of an inning to start.

John Demcher, Brody Berlowitz, Gage Norvell, Michael Lopez, Chase Yarger, Tristan Wittau, and Valek Cisneros all came out of the bullpen to keep Rogers State with only two runs. The bullpen effort limited the host Hillcats to only four more hits. Norvell and Wittau recorded two strikeouts each and Berlowitz and Cisneros struck out one each.

Ty Hammack and Orlando Gonzalez both had three-hit games and Caden Robertson and Garrett Casey had two. Grant Randall, Matt Baughn, and Dillon Darnall all had one each.

Hammack scored Robertson on an RBI-single in the first to make it 1-0. Darnell homered in the third to make it 2-2, then Casey's RBI single scored Gonzalez to give UCO the 3-2 lead.

In the eighth, Casey hit another RBI single to score Hammack. Darnall was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Davan Brady. Then Randall singled up the middle to score Aiden Proctor and give UCO a 6-2 lead. Ty Chapman hit a sacrifice fly to score Baughn, then Hammack cleared the bases with a double to fight field. After Gonzalez's RBI single scored Hammack, Central Oklahoma led by the final, 11-2.
