Bronchos Host Mustangs Thursday Night

Central Oklahoma Welcomes Midwestern State To Hamilton Field House

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma continues its five-game season-opening homestand Thursday night with a non-conference matchup against Midwestern State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

UCO is 0-2 on the young season after losses to Southwest Minnesota State and St. Cloud State this past weekend in the Central Region Challenge at Hamilton Field House. Midwestern State is 1-0 after a lop-sided victory over NAIA UNT Dallas last weekend in Texas.

"We are figuring out who we are and how this is going to work and there were some good things to take from last weekend despite the results," UCO first-year head women's head coach Hannah Moeller said. "It's a process and it takes time. We have to continue to stick to the game plan and stay the course and things are going to work out for us if we do that."

Central Oklahoma averaged 55.0 points through the first two games and allowed 63.5 per game. After a 15-point setback on Friday, the Bronchos lost by just two points on Saturday and held a lead with 13 seconds left in the game.

Nykaiya Dillard led UCO with 30 total points over the weekend. The freshman played just 18.5 minutes per game off the bench. She shot 40.7 percent overall, 33.3 percent from behind the arc, and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line. Through two games, Dillard is averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game.

Kaitlyn McCarn also averaged double figures through two games, putting up 11.5 points to go with 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. The sophomore shot 39.1 percent overall, 66.7 percent from deep, and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line in 27.0 minutes per game.

Olivia Quapaw added 9.5 points and made a team-high four 3-pointers and Bobbie Fouquet added 4.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Harley Harbour and Jerney Bennett both scored 3.0 points per game and combined to average 11.5 rebounds per game with Harbour's 6.0 leading the team ahead of Bennett's 5.5.

UCO owns a narrow 20-19 lead in the all-time series with MSU. The Bronchos and the Mustangs first played in Wichita Falls in 1978 – Central won 60-58 – and last played in 2024, also in Wichita Falls – Central won 58-52. The last meeting in Edmond was December 2012 and the Bronchos won 72-53.

Central Oklahoma continues the five-game homestand to wrap up the month of November next week. The Bronchos host No. 10 Harding on Nov. 24 and UC Colorado Springs, which is receiving votes in the latest WBCA poll, on Nov. 29.
