Bronchos Visit NSU, UAFS In MIAA Road Trip

Central Oklahoma Begins Four-Game January Road Swing

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Central Oklahoma begins a four-game road swing Thursday evening with an MIAA matchup against longtime in-state rival Northeastern State.
 
UCO heads to Tahlequah with an 8-5 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the MIAA. Central has won four straight overall. Northeastern State is 9-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.
 
"We need to play our best because we've got two tough matchups on the schedule this weekend," UCO head men's coach Bob Hoffman said. "Both teams are good and it's always hard to win on the road. We're going to need to be locked in and focused on playing our best."
 
Central Oklahoma will move from Tahlequah to Fort Smith, Arkansas on Friday as the Bronchos prepare to face the newest member of the MIAA. UCO tips off against Arkansas – Fort Smith Saturday at 3 p.m. The UAFS Lions are 6-7 on the season and 0-4 in league play. Fort Smith hosts Rogers State on Wednesday night before welcoming UCO to town this weekend.
 
Central Oklahoma heads out this week averaging 82.1 points per game through 13 games played this season. The Bronchos shoot 45.6 percent overall, 33.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 69.9 percent from the free-throw line. UCO averages 7.7 made threes per game and 17.0 made free-throws per game.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma concedes 70.3 points per game with teams shooting 40.9 percent overall against the Bronchos. Opponents shoot 29.8 percent from behind the 3-point line with 6.7 makes per game, and 72.0 percent from the free-throw line with 13.6 makes per game.
 
UCO has four players averaging double figures led by Israel Hart, who scores 15.8 points per game. JV Seat adds 13.6 points per game and Jacobi Sebock scores 12.6 while Jordan Thompson rounds out the group at 12.3 points per game. The four make up 80 percent of the starting lineup. Luke Haasl, the fifth starter, averages 8.5 points per game.
 
Central Oklahoma gets 24.6 points per game off its bench, led by Parker Hannah, who scores 7.2 points per game. Matthew Willenborg adds 4.8 points and Jarreth Ingram 4.1 points per game.
 
Hart leads the team in field goal attempts (147), free-throws made (53) and free-throws attempted (64). He also adds 4.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.
 
Sebock has made a team-high 66 shots and he leads the team in rebounding at 7.3 boards per game, a mark that ranks second in the MIAA. Sebock has pulled down 95 rebounds (26 offensive) in 13 games.
 
Seat leads the team with 25 made 3-pointers and he's taken a team-high 65 from outside. He also has an 84.6 percent success rate at the free-throw line to lead the Bronchos.
 
Thompson adds a team-best 4.4 assists per game to the mix and he also leads the Bronchos in steals at 2.5 per game – the best mark in the MIAA.
 
Willenborg and Haasl also lead the MIAA in blocked shots. Willenborg has 22 (1.7 per game) and Haasl 21 (1.6 per game), the top two marks among everyone in the league.
 
Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State have played 154 times on the hardwood, with UCO holding a firm 100-54 advantage in the all-time series which began in 1924. UCO takes a seven-game win streak into Thursday's matchup.
 
UCO leads the series with Arkansas Fort Smith, 2-0, winning in 2010-11 (93-72) and 2011-12 (80-59).
 
Central Oklahoma will play NSU and UAFS this weekend before traveling to Missouri Southern Jan. 16 and Pittsburg State Jan. 18. UCO lost to both schools in Edmond last month. The Bronchos return to Edmond to host Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney on the last weekend in January.
