Bronchos Back Home Sunday To Host Fort Hays State

No. 5 UCO Puts 22-Match MIAA Winning Streak On The Line

EDMOND – No. 5-ranked Central Oklahoma continues a three-match homestand and resumes its MIAA schedule Sunday when the Bronchos tangle with Fort Hays State in a 2 p.m. dual at Hamilton Field House.

UCO is 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in the league, while the Tigers from Hays, Kan. are 5-3 and 2-0 headed into a Saturday afternoon dual at Central Missouri. The Bronchos are riding a 23-match home winning streak and have also won 22 consecutive MIAA duals.

"We do a lot of traveling and don't have many home duals so it's always a treat to get to compete in front of our fans," said head coach Todd Steidley, whose team has five home matches this season. "We're looking forward to Sunday. Hopefully we come out aggressive and keep pushing to score points.

"Our guys have been working hard and our goal is to get a little better each day, which I think we've done for the most part."

UCO owns a huge 34-8 lead over FHSU in a series that started in 1973 and have won the last eight meetings.

The Bronchos have three duals remaining after Sunday. UCO hosts No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney Feb. 7, goes to Central Missouri Feb. 15 and finishes at home the next day against New Mexico Highlands on Senior Day.
