Central Oklahoma Hosts Nebraska Kearney Thursday Night

Bronchos Look To Snap Four-Game Slide In Return To Hamilton Field House

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returns home for just the second game of the new year as the Bronchos host Nebraska Kearney Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside Hamilton Field House.
 
Central Oklahoma comes into this week's matchup with a 4-13 overall record and a 3-5 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos are aiming to snap a four-game losing streak – all road games – in their return to Hamilton.
 
Nebraska Kearney is 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the MIAA. The Lopers from Kearney, Neb. bring a four-game win streak to Edmond.
 
The two schools have met 25 times on the hardwood, with UNK owning a 15-10 advantage in the all-time series. The teams played once in 1997-98 (UNK win) prior to both institutions joining the MIAA. Kearney has won each of the last four meetings.
 
This season, Central Oklahoma is averaging 62.7 points per game and shooting 39.1 percent from the floor. The Bronchos shoot 29.5 percent from behind the 3-point line and average 5.3 made 3-pointers per game. UCO shoots 69.0 percent from the free-throw line and makes 11.6 shots from the stripe per game.
 
Defensively, UCO is allowing 73.5 points per game with opponents shooting 44.2 percent against the Bronchos. Teams shoot 35.0 percent from behind the 3-point line and average 6.5 made threes per game. Opponents also shoot 73.6 percent from the free-throw line and make 10.6 per game.
 
The Bronchos have four players averaging double figures this season. Korie Allensworth leads the team at 13.4 points per game. The senior forward adds 6.0 rebounds per game as well.
 
LaKysia Johnson averages 12.4 points per game and leads UCO with 1.9 steals per game. Jordyn Turner averages 11.8 points per game with a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. Talia Pogi rounds out the group with 10.5 points per game and she has made a team-high 32 3-pointers this season.
 
Gracee Miller chips in 6.8 points per game, Karly Wadsworth adds 4.6 points per game, and Peyton Walker contributes 2.2 points and a team-high 2.1 assists per game.
 
UNK averages 75.8 points per game and concedes 56.3 for a plus-19.4 scoring margin.  The Lopers are led by a trio of players averaging 10 points per game. Meg Burns (10.4), Samantha Moore (10.3), and Bailee Sobczak (10.6) lead the way. Jillian Aschoff scores 9.9 points per game. Moore is the team's leading rebounder at 7.6 boards per game while Sobczak and Aschoff both pull down more than six boards per game.
 
Central Oklahoma is hosting UNK on Thursday night and will welcome No. 11 Fort Hays State to Edmond on Saturday afternoon before hitting the road again next weekend. The Bronchos host FHSU Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
 
UCO is welcoming back alumni for Saturday's game, with all players, coaches, trainers, and managers invited back for the game and postgame social.
