INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is ranked second in the NCAA Central regional rankings published Wednesday.
UCO is 40-8 on the season with a 20-2 record in the MIAA. Pittsburg State, which is first in the rankings, is 45-5 overall and 19-3 in the MIAA. The top two teams in the league play each other Saturday on the final day of the regular season.
Rogers State (36-8), Augustana (40-13), and Oklahoma Baptist (37-11) round out the top five.
The No. 1 & No. 2 teams in the region will host four-team tournaments May 9-11, and the two advancing teams will play in a Super Regional best-of-three series May 14-15.
The Central Region is comprised of 41 teams from the MIAA (14), GAC (12), and NSIC (15). The winners of each league's postseason tournament earn an automatic bid to the regional, with the next five best teams earning an at-large bid.
The 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championship will announce its field of 64 teams Monday, May 6.
Central Oklahoma is 40-8 overall this season. The Bronchos are 11-2 against teams in this week's Central Region rankings.
