Emily Deramus, Jordyn Pipkin, Take Weekly League Honors

Central Oklahoma Is 22-6 On The Year And Ranked 11th In The Country

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma All-American sophomore shortstop Emily Deramus was named MIAA co-Hitter of the Week for the second week in a row, and Jordyn Pipkin earned MIAA Pitcher of the Week, following standout performances for both on the softball field this weekend.

Deramus and Pipkin led No. 11 Central Oklahoma to a perfect 6-0 week as the Bronchos rolled through the MIAA/NSIC Challenge at Pittsburg State. UCO improved to 22-6 on the year as its stretched its win streak to 15 games. Central swept doubleheaders against Augustana, St. Cloud State, and Winona State on three consecutive days in Kansas. 
 
Deramus continued her hot hitting this week as she went 10-for-22 at the plate with six extra base hits. She hit .455 with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Deramus had a team-high eight RBIs and scored seven times herself. She also drew three walks and only struck out once on the week.
 
The sophomore is hitting .378 on the year with a .767 slugging percentage and a .457 on-base percentage. With 34 hits on the season, Deramus has 10 doubles, seven homers, and two triples. She has scored 32 runs and batted in 25 more.
 
Deramus ranks second in the MIAA in doubles and is third in home runs.

Pipkin went 3-0 in three starts in the circle for the surging Bronchos. She ended the week with a 0.40 ERA, allowing just one run in 17 2/3 innings of work over three games. Pipkin only allowed seven hits. She struck out eight batters. Pipkin threw a complete-game one-hitter to beat Augustana on Friday.

Pipkin, a junior from Jenks, is 9-3 with a 2.20 ERA in the circle this season. She has five complete games and two shutouts, and has opponents hitting just .206 against her in 66 2/3 innings of work. 

Pipkin ranks sixth in the MIAA in both wins (nine) and opponent batting average (.206).

Central Oklahoma returns to MIAA play this weekend. The Bronchos host Missouri Western for a league doubleheader Friday afternoon at Gerry Pinkston Stadium. UCO also hosts Northwest Missouri for a Saturday afternoon twin bill.

This week marked the first MIAA Pitcher of the Week award for UCO this season, while the Bronchos have now grabbed three consecutive MIAA Hitter of the Week awards.
