Emily Deramus Named co-MIAA Athlete of the Week

Central Oklahoma All-American Led Bronchos To Weekend Sweep Of MIAA Schools

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Emily Deramus was named MIAA co-Hitter of the Week following a standout performance on the field for the Bronchos.

The All-American sophomore shortstop led No. 12 Central Oklahoma to a sweep of Washburn Saturday in Edmond, and a sweep of Emporia State Sunday afternoon in Edmond. UCO improved to 16-6 on the season with the four wins and are 4-0 in the MIAA after opening conference play this weekend.

Deramus led UCO hitting .667 (8-for-12) with two home runs, one triple and seven RBIs. She had a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage while also scoring six runs and stealing two bases. Deramus was also perfect in the field at shortstop with seven putouts and six assists.

Deramus is hitting .353 this season in 22 games played – all starts at SS. The sophomore has 24 hits, including seven doubles, five home runs, and one triple. She has 25 runs scored and 17 RBIs.

Central Oklahoma will return to non-conference play this weekend with three doubleheaders in Pittsburg, Kansas at the MIAA/NSIC Crossover at Pitt State. The Bronchos play Augustana, Winona State, and St. Cloud State, with doubleheaders each day beginning Friday.
