Bronchos Outpaced In Nebraska

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma dropped an MIAA road contest at Nebraska Kearney Thursday night, falling 82-61 to the host Lopers.

Central Oklahoma is now 5-17 on the season and 4-12 in the MIAA. Kearney improved to 16-6 on the year and is 10-6 in league play.

UCO scored the first four points of the game on back-to-back jumpers from Caley Young. But a 14-0 run by Kearney followed and Central never recovered. The Bronchos trailed 21-12 after the first quarter.

Kearney increased its lead to 13 by halftime, 35-22, then to 17 by the end of the third quarter, 54-37.

Central Oklahoma shot 34.7 percent from the floor in the game, hitting 25 of 72 shots. The Bronchos were 25.9 percent from behind the 3-point line, making 7 of 27 from deep. And UCO went just 4-for-9 at the free-throw line, a 44.4 percent rate.

Natalie Stice led UCO with 19 points on the night. The senior from Tahoka, Texas made 7 of 11 shots, including four 3-pointers. She was 4-for-8 from deep and also went 1-for-2 at the line. Stice added a pair of rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Caley Young joined her in double figures, scoring a dozen in the game. Young was 6-for-9 from the floor and added three steals, three blocks, two assists, and one rebound.

LaKysia Johnson added nine points, Talia Pogi scored seven, and Alexis Martin added five points. Tayler Factor chipped in four points, Alena Wilson and Aliyah Llanusa added two, and Lexi Foreman scored one point.

Central Oklahoma will continue its short, two-game road trip Saturday afternoon with an MIAA matchup against Fort Hays State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Hays, Kansas.
