Jaden Wells Named MIAA Player of the Week

UCO Standout Led Bronchos To Victory And Sank 300th Career 3-Pointer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jaden Wells led Central Oklahoma to a big late season win over Washburn Saturday and was named co-MIAA Player of the Week for his efforts.
 
Wells led UCO with a game-high 27 points. He became just the fifth player in MIAA history to make 300 3-pointers with five more on Saturday afternoon in Edmond.
 
The fourth-year guard went 9-for-22 from the floor, 5-for-9 from deep, and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Wells scored 27 points to go with two boards, two assists, and two steals.
 
The Hurst, Texas native is Central Oklahoma's leading scorer and the top scorer in the MIAA. Wells has 522 points this season, averaging 20.1 points per game. He has worked himself up to No. 4 on Central Oklahoma's all-time scoring list with 1,736 career points. His 300 made 3-pointers are already a UCO record.
 
Central Oklahoma plays two games away from home this weekend. The Bronchos visit Rogers State Thursday night before taking on Northeastern State Saturday afternoon.
 
UCO wraps up the 2023-24 regular season with two home games next week. The Bronchos host Northwest Missouri on Feb. 29 and Newman on March 2.
 
The 2024 MIAA Basketball Championships are scheduled for March 6-10 in Kansas City, Mo. UCO has qualified for the tournament and can finish anywhere from third to 10th place based on the results of the final four games of the season.
