Bronchos Open MIAA Play With Pittsburg State

Central Oklahoma Hosts PSU, MSSU At Hamilton This Weekend

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma opens MIAA play as the Bronchos welcome Pittsburg State to Hamilton Field House Wednesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
The Bronchos are 4-2 this season and have won two in a row. UCO has alternated two wins, two losses, and again two wins. The Bronchos will start MIAA play this week with Pitt State and are also hosting Missouri Southern Sunday afternoon.
 
Pittsburg State comes to Edmond with a 4-3 record on the season and has also had alternating results. The Gorillas alternated wins and losses through the first six games this season but have won two in a row entering Wednesday night's league opener.
 
Central Oklahoma and Pitt State have battled closely through the years, with PSU owning a 14-12 advantage in the series since the 1987-88 season. Pitt has won three in a row after a three-game streak by UCO.
 
UCO is averaging 84.7 points per game through six games this season. The Bronchos shoot 50.7 percent from the floor overall, 34.6 percent from behind the 3-point line with an average of 7.3 makes per game, and 71.0 percent from the free-throw line with 16.3 makes from the stripe per game.
 
The Bronchos give up just 69.2 points per game with opponents shooting 38.8 percent from the floor. Teams make only 26.6 percent of 3-pointers (6.8 per game) against UCO and 75.0 percent of free-throws (14.0 per game).
 
UCO has four starters averaging double figures and a fifth just under the mark. Israel Hart leads the team at 17.5 points per game and ranks third in the MIAA with that total. Jacobi Sebock (12.5) and Jordan Thompson (12.0), as well as JV Seat (11.5), add to the scoring load. Luke Haasl averages 9.0 points per game.
 
Jarreth Ingram (6.8), Parker Hannah (6.2), and Matthew Willenborg (6.0) make up the bulk of scoring off the bench.
 
Central Oklahoma has several players that rank in the top 10 in the MIAA in various statistical categories. Hart's scoring is third in the league, Sebock's 6.5 rebounds per game ranks eighth, Thompson's 2.7 steals per game ranks second, and Willenborg's 1.5 blocks per game ranks third in the league.
 
Thompson (4.8) and Hart (4.7) are both in the top 10 in assists per game in the MIAA this season.
 
Central Oklahoma will host Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern this week to open MIAA play but will return to non-conference contests Dec. 17-18 in San Antonio, Texas. UCO wraps up the 2024 portion of its 2024-25 schedule Dec. 22 against Rogers State and will play its final non-conference game against Williams Baptist Jan. 2 in Edmond.
