UCO Hosts No. 3 West Texas Thursday Night

Bronchos Bring Big Matchup To Hamilton Field House

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts No. 3 West Texas A&M Thursday night at Hamilton Field House in a major early season non-conference contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Central Oklahoma is off to a 2-0 start this season. The Bronchos beat UMary and Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend in Edmond, hosting the Central Region Challenge.
 
West Texas is 3-0 this year, with wins over preseason No. 25 Ferris State and receiving votes UNC Pembroke Nov. 1 & 3 at the D2CCA Tipoff Classic in Canyon, Texas. The Buffs also beat NAIA Oklahoma Panhandle State this past weekend. Thursday marks the first road game for WT, which was picked No. 3 in the country in the preseason NABC Top 25. West Texas is No. 2 in the country in the first D2CSC Top 25 of the season, announced Tuesday.
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 91.0 points per game through the first week of the new season. The Bronchos are also averaging a plus-15.5 scoring margin. Both marks are areas UCO excelled at last season.
 
In the new campaign, UCO is led by a starting five that all average double figures through two games.
 
Jordan Thompson leads the pack at 17.5 points per game, JV Seat averages 16.5, Jacobi Sebock is at 15.0, Israel Hart averages 14.5, and Luke Haasl rounds out the group at 11.5 points per game.
 
Thompson adds 8.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game after one week of play. The senior point guard shoots 54.2 percent from the floor overall, 50 percent from behind the arc, and 60 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Seat adds 3.5 boards and 1.5 steals per game, and also shoots 50 percent from both the floor overall and 3-point land. He is an 88.9 percent free-throw shooter.
 
Sebock is the team's leading rebounder at 7.0 boards per game and chips in with 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists, and one block per game. He shoots 68.4 percent from the floor.
 
Hart led Central in scoring in the first game of the year. He dishes out 5.0 assists per game, pulls down 2.5 boards, and swipes 1.5 steals per game.
 
Haasl adds 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game to the mix. The senior forward had six rejections in the season opener. He is shooting an incredible 90.9 percent from the floor after two games, making 10 of 11 shots from the floor.
 
Central Oklahoma's non-starters are contributing as well.
 
Matthew Willenborg averages 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He his also shooting 83.3 percent from the floor, making 5 of 6 shots this season. Jarreth Ingram adds 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He shoots 57.1 percent.
 
Ben Averitt (2.0), Parker Hannah (1.5), and Jack Robinson (1.5) also add to the scoring load.
 
West Texas averages 89.0 points per game. The Buffs scored 79 and 77 in two Division II games before a 111-point outburst against NAIA competition. The team shoots 46.8 percent overall, 27.4 percent from behind the arc, and 66.3 percent from the free-throw line. WT averages 6.7 made 3-pointers per game and 19.0 free-throws per game through the first two weeks of the season.
 
Central Oklahoma will play its first road game next week when the Bronchos visit longtime rival Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday, Nov. 21 in Weatherford. UCO will return home for the next four, hosting Science & Arts (11/24) and UT Dallas (12/1) before beginning MIAA play with Pittsburg State (12/4) and Missouri Southern (12/8).
