Bronchos Visit Drury For Midweek Non-Con

Central Oklahoma Looks For First Win In Springfield Wednesday Morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Central Oklahoma returns to action Wednesday morning with a non-conference road matchup at Drury. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. for the game that will be featured as Hiland Dairy Kids Day.

UCO is looking for its first win of the new season. The Bronchos went to St. Cloud, Minnesota last weekend and dropped two close contests to St. Cloud State and Southwest Minnesota State.

The Bronchos are averaging 62.5 points per game after one weekend of play. UCO shot 37 percent from the floor, 22.6 percent from behind the arc, and 78.3 percent from the free-throw line. Central hit seven 3-pointers and went 18-for-23 from the free-throw line.

Senior transfer Korie Allensworth led the team averaging 20.0 points per game. From Sulphur, Allensworth scored 20 in both games.

The forward went 16-for-27 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. She also pulled down 11 total rebounds to average 5.5 per game for the week.

LaKysia Johnson, a senior from Altus, came off the bench in both games and she averaged 14.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and two steals per contest.

Talia Pogi (9.0 PPG), Jordyn Turner (7.5 PPG/7.5 RPG), and Gracee Miller (6.0 PPG) were also key in Central's efforts in Minnesota.

Drury is 0-1 this season with the Panthers playing just once this past weekend. DU lost 81-77 to preseason No. 15 Ferris State at home. Four players scored in double figures for Drury. Josie Storey (16), Anna Hitt (14), Rhi Gibbons (12), and Jazz Gray (10) led the way for Drury. Storey and Gray came off the bench.

Central Oklahoma and Drury have only met once on the hardwood in women's basketball. The 2003-04 meeting ended with an 86-79 win for Drury in Lawton at Cameron's Powerade Classic.

UCO is spending most of the first month of the season away from its home in Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos visit Midwestern State this Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Central Oklahoma plays its first home game Nov. 19 against preseason No. 22 Southern Nazarene before turning around and making the trek to Harding Nov. 21 in Searcy, Ark.
