Lemos Named To Gold Glove Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 25) – Rylee Lemos has played a big role on Central Oklahoma's Division II-best defense this season and the freshman right fielder was recognized Thursday with her selection to the Rawlings Gold Glove Team, presented by the NFCA.

The rookie from Oklahoma Union High School in Coffeyville, Okla. has been perfect in the field with 81 putouts and three assists. The Bronchos lead Division II with a .981 team fielding percentage.

"Rylee stepped in from the start and has been an amazing addition to our defense with her play in the outfield," head coach Cody White said. "It's a tremendous honor for her and reflects on how good our team defense has been this year."

Lemos has started all 59 games and has also played a key offensive role. She's batting .332 with 16 doubles, 23 runs batted in and a team-high 16 stolen bases.

Nine players – one at each position – were named to the Rawlings Gold Glove Team. Recipients were selected by the NFCA's Division II All-America Committee following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position.

The group utilized fielding statistics and school-submitted video to closely examine finalists and select the winners at each defensive position.

No. 4-ranked UCO, 52-7 on the season, takes on Nova Southeastern at 3 p.m. (Oklahoma time) Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.
