NCAA Announces Softball Championship Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced Saturday the bracket and pairings for the 2023 Division II Softball Championship next week in Chattanooga, Tennessee and revealed Central Oklahoma as the No. 2 seed in the national finals.

Central Oklahoma will open with Nova Southeastern on Thursday, May 25 at 4 p.m. (Eastern) at UT Chattanooga's Frost Stadium. The Bronchos, 52-7 and winners of the Central Regional title, will meet Nova Southeastern, 43-14 and winners of the Southeast Regional, in the first round of the eight-team double elimination tournament.
 
Two four-team pool play brackets will determine the best-of-three national championship, scheduled for May 30-31. UCO and NSU are joined by (3) North Georgia and (6) East Stroudsburg.
 
UT Tyler is the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will play (8) Cal State San Marcos while (4) Wilmington and (5) Grand Valley State will also face off in the first round.
 
The four winners of first-round games will play again on Friday, May 26 while the losers will take the day off and move into the consolation bracket on Saturday, May 27. Pool play will wrap up on Sunday, May 28 with the teams advancing to the national championship series taking Memorial Day, May 29, off before the best-of-three series begins May 30.
 
Central Oklahoma's 52 wins set a school record. The Bronchos are returning to the Division II Softball Championship for the first time since 2013, when UCO won the national title. Central won the MIAA regular season title, postseason tournament championship, and the Central Regional to advance to the national finals next week in Chattanooga.
