Shayla Harper, Jacee Minter Named To National Watchlist

UCO Duo Named To 2023 Tucci/NFCA National Player/Pitcher of the Year Watchlist

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Shayla Harper and Jacee Minter were both named to the Tucci NFCA Player/Pitcher of the Year Watchlist, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.

The NFCA announced 115 players from around the country on the watchlist.

Harper leads Central Oklahoma's high-powered offense this season. The senior third baseman is hitting a team best .417 at the plate, with a .738 slugging percentage and a .505 on-base percentage. Harper has 35 hits, including six home runs, five doubles and two triples. She also has scored 32 runs and has 25 RBIs in 29 games played this season.
 
Minter, who was named an NFCA All-American last season, is among the best again in 2023. The junior outfielder is hitting .341 this season with a .670 slugging percentage and a .445 on-base percentage. Minter has 30 hits in 29 games played, including a team-high seven home runs. She also has six doubles and one triple. Minter has scored 27 runs and batted in 26 more.
 
Central Oklahoma is in Wichita, Kansas this weekend for an MIAA doubleheader against Newman. The Bronchos take on the Jets Saturday at 2 p.m. & 4 p.m.

New in 2023, the list is broken down into the eight NCAA Regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West) with up to 15 student-athletes represented in each region. The list is compiled, and the award is voted on by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee with one head coach representing each of the eight NCAA regions. To be eligible, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member.
 
Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2023 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year will be announced on June 1. All student-athletes are eligible for the end-of-the-season award and do not have to be on this list to be considered.
