NCAA Regional Rankings Have UCO Third

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is ranked third in the Central Region, the NCAA announced Wednesday.

The NCAA selects eight teams in the Central Region for the NCAA Tournament next month. The region is made up of schools from the MIAA, the Great American Conference, and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Three conference tournament champions earn automatic qualification to the national tournament. The next five best are given at-large bids.

UCO is third in the first published rankings. The Bronchos were listed among the 10 teams considered last week. One more ranking will be released next Wednesday. The 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship Selection Show is scheduled for Sunday, March 5.

UCO is 23-3 this season and 17-3 in the MIAA. The Bronchos have a 19-3 record against DII competition and a 17-3 record against Central region opponents.

Central Oklahoma made the national tournament last season for the first time since 2011. UCO earned an at-large bid as the No. 5 seed in the Central region.
