Soccer Opens Fall Camp

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team reported to Fall camp Monday with the Bronchos just over two weeks away from the start of a new season.

Central Oklahoma, which is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Top 25, opens the 2022 season Thursday, Aug. 25 at Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City. UCO will also play Minnesota State in Joplin, Missouri that weekend before making its home debut Thursday, Sept. 1 against East Central.

UCO returns 17 letter winners from last year's squad. The Bronchos posted a 13-5-3 record in 2021, reached the MIAA Championship Semifinals, and earned another trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament.

Monika McGee, who earned First Team All-MIAA and First Team All-Region last year, is among the returners. McGee has played in 43 games in two seasons with the Bronchos and has started 42 of those contests.

Kassidy Collins also earned All-MIAA honors as a freshman last season. Eden Jones, Linsey Gordon, and Madison Linavong are among returners that appeared in all 21 games for UCO last season.

Central Oklahoma will practice for the next two weeks with three scrimmages on the schedule before beginning the regular season later this month. UCO has an 18-game schedule that includes eight home matches at Tom Thompson Field.
