UCO Hosting Fall Intersquad Scrimmage Thursday Night

EDMOND – The UCO football team is hosting an intersquad scrimmage Thursday at Chad Richison Stadium as the team wraps up Fall Camp and continues preparation for the 2022 season opener. The event is free to all.

"We've had a good camp and we are excited to show the campus and the community a little preview of where we're at," first-year UCO head football coach Adam Dorrel said. "School is back in session and we'd love to see the students come out and the community as well."

Central Oklahoma opens the 2022 season on the road. The Bronchos are scheduled to travel to St. Joseph, Missouri Thursday, Sept. 1 for an MIAA matchup against Missouri Western. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

UCO will make its home debut Thursday, Sept. 8 against Emporia State at 7 p.m.

Thursday's scrimmage will begin at 7 p.m. too with the team working through its kicking game first before simulating two 15-minute quarters of live action. A two-minute drill will wrap up the evening after the second quarter.

Central Oklahoma returned 56 lettermen from last year's squad. The Bronchos finished the 2021 season 4-7 and tied for eighth in the MIAA standings. UCO hired Dorrel to replace former head coach Nick Bobeck following the season.

The Bronchos play six home games this Fall. UCO hosts Emporia State first on Sept. 8 and will host Northwest Missouri Saturday, Sept. 24. The Bronchos have back-to-back home games in October, hosting Northeastern State on Thursday, Oct. 6 before welcoming Fort Hays State to Chad Richison Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Homecoming is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, with UCO taking on Pittsburg State. The Bronchos will close out the 2022 regular season Saturday, Nov. 12 against Central Missouri.
