Central Takes Tigers In Game 2

Bronchos Can Sweep MIAA Road Series With Win In Sunday Finale

HAYS, Kan. – An early surge held firm for Central Oklahoma Saturday as the Bronchos took a 6-5 win at Fort Hays State.
 
Central won the MIAA road series, having picked up a 10-6 win Friday. The Bronchos close out the three-game trip Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
UCO scored two in the first and had a 6-1 lead after four trips to the plate. The Broncho pitching staff had a bend, don't break afternoon.
 
Tucker Elliott picked up the win. He threw five innings and only allowed one hit while striking out six. He did issue seven walks though and gave up four runs, three earned.
 
A.J. Ozorio-Brace threw two scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh, also allowing just one hit. Beaux Bonvillain threw the eighth and gave up one run on two hits. He did add one more strikeout to the Broncho tally.
 
Kyler Patterson picked up his fifth save of the season, closing out the ninth to hang on to the 6-5 lead. He struck out the final two batters after giving up two hits.
 
UCO struck early on offense.
 
Kaleb Glass managed a bases loaded infield single to put UCO up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Wyatt Gray drew a walk on the next at bat and UCO led 2-0.
 
Glass registered another RBI with a single to second base in the top of the third inning. That scored Noah Olson and put UCO up 3-1. Gray followed again, this time with an RBI single up the middle to score Glass and give Central a 4-1 advantage.
 
It was 6-1 at the turn of the fourth after Garrett Takamatsu singled up the middle to score Jaden Parsons and Austin Lambert hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Clayton Peterson.
 
Glass finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. He also stole two bases. Zac Freeman was also 2-for-4 and stole one base a day after setting a new school record with five swipes on Friday.
 
Peterson, Takamatsu, Olson and Gray all had one hit apiece.
