EDMOND (Feb. 18) – Kylee Lynch threw another complete-game gem and Tarin Dubler had three hits to lead No. 16-ranked Central Oklahoma past Oklahoma Baptist 5-1 Friday evening at Gerry Pinkston Stadium on the first day of the Broncho Invitational.
The Bronchos improved to 8-2 with their sixth straight win. Central turns right around to take on Chadron State in the final game of the day, then plays single games each of the next three days.
Lynch tossed her fifth straight complete game in improving to 6-0. The sophomore left-hander scattered three hits and walked just one while striking out three.
Dubler went 3-for-4 and Brighton Gilbert had two hits to pace a nine-hit attack.
UCO snapped a scoreless deadlock in the bottom of the fourth inning, pushing across three runs behind a three-hit attack.
Odom sparked the uprising with a one-out double to the left-center field gap, Mikayla Rutland was hit by pitch and Dobson's single to right-center plated a sliding Odom with the game's first run.
Shayla Harper walked to load the bases and Rutland scored on Gilbert's fielder's choice before Dubler ripped an RBI single up the middle to make it 3-0.
OBU got on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the top of the sixth, but the Bronchos answered with two of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Gilbert and Dubler had consecutive two-out infield singles to set the stage for Jacee Minter, who smacked a line-drive double to center field to score both runners and arrange the final margin.
