Kelsey Johnson Named CoSIDA All-District

Kesley Johnson has earned several awards and honors on and off the basketball court and the graduate student can now add another academic honor to her long list of accolades.

The Collegiate Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced Thursday its 2021-22 men's and women's basketball All-District teams and Johnson was one of six selected to the NCAA Division II District 7 team.

District 7 is made up of the same three conferences that make up the NCAA Central Region, consisting of MIAA, NSIC and GAC institutions. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program lists the best student-athletes both on and off the field of play. Its members nominate and vote on All-District teams first. Those honorees are now moved forward to the All-America ballot.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade point average and have been with their current institution for more than two semesters.

Johnson is a 4.0 grad student in the Family & Child Studies program at UCO. She is also among the national leaders in scoring on the court. Johnson averages 21.0 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. Just this week she added to her school record with a seventh 30-point game for her career.

Johnson has scored 1,363 points in her career at UCO (2019-22). She is fourth on Central's all-time scoring list and is only 14 points shy of reaching third place on that list.
