Blaser, Kimmel Lead Bronchos In Tulsa

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (Oct. 25) – Carson Blaser and Caleb Kimmel led a final-round rally that lifted Central Oklahoma to a fourth-place finish in the Tulsa Cup that wrapped up Tuesday.

Blaser fired a one-under-par 71 and Kimmel added an even-par 72 as the Bronchos closed with a six-over 294, the second-lowest score of the day. UCO moved up four spots in the final standings in finishing with a 599 total at the 6,888-yard, par-72 The Club at Indian Springs.
 
Northeastern State won the 17-team tournament in a playoff with Southwestern Oklahoma after both finished with 590 totals, followed by Henderson State (591) and UCO. It was the final tournament of the fall season for the Bronchos.
 
Ross Taylor shot 75 for UCO, while Bennett Baldwin had a 76 and Evan Griffith a 78. Riley Harris shot 76 competing as an individual.
 
"I was really proud of the way the guys played today," head coach Derrick Thompson said. "We made up a lot of ground and finished the fall season on a good note. We're going to work hard over the winter to get ourselves ready for the spring and I'm excited to see what these guys can do."
 
Kimmel ended up tied for sixth in the individual standings with a 146 total, while Taylor tied for 16th at 150 and Blaser tied for 18th at 151.
 
Blaser started final-round play on No. 7 and bogeyed his first two holes. He was three-over after eight holes before catching fire down the stretch.
 
The freshman was four-under on his last 10 holes, making birdies at the par-3 16th, par-4 17th, par-4 second and par-4 fifth to go along with six pars.
 
Kimmel opened the day on No. 5 and started with five pars before birdieing the par-4 10th to get to one-under. He followed with five more pars, then dropped back to even with a bogey on the par-3 16th.
 
The junior got that stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 first hole, gave it back with a bogey on No. 3 and finished with a par to close out the even-par round.
