Bronchos Blowout Blue Tigers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma beat Lincoln 45-3 Saturday afternoon in an MIAA matchup at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

UCO improved to 3-2 on the season with the win, which is the second in a row for the Bronchos.

"The guys did a good job of staying focused and on the game plan today," UCO head football coach Adam Dorrel said. "There are still some things we need to clean up, but overall, we played well. Now we have a short week to get ready for a big game against Northeastern."

Central Oklahoma is back in action on Thursday next week. The Bronchos are hosting Northeastern State on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Chad Richison Stadium in the annual battle for the President's Cup.

Saturday, Central didn't meet much trouble in Jefferson City. The Broncho defense forced a three & out on the first possession of the game and the offense got on the field and went right down the field for a score. Andrew Carney's 6-yard touchdown run gave UCO a 7-0 lead just four minutes into the game.

Nicky Quevedo converted a 26-yard field goal to give UCO a 10-0 lead before Lincoln got its only points of the afternoon to make it 10-3. That's how the first quarter ended.

Then UCO cranked it up in the second frame.

Nasir Kemper had a 15-yard touchdown run, Stephon Brown hit Jacob Delso for a 33-yard touchdown pass, and then Brown hit Kemper on a 2-yard touchdown pass. The latter putting the Bronchos ahead 31-3 just before halftime.

Central exhibited complete control in the third quarter with two more scores.

Brown hit Delso on a 53-yard touchdown pass just one minute and 12 seconds into the third quarter. Jayce Gardner added a 6-yard touchdown run later in the quarter that gave the Bronchos the 45-3 lead.

Brown led the UCO offense on Saturday, going 14-for-20 passing with 273 yards and three touchdowns. The yards and touchdown passes are both career highs. Brown also had six carries for 46 yards.

Dominique Dunn had a team-high five catches for 93 yards. Delso finished with four receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Gardner's nine carries for 45 yards led the running back group.

Noah West and Chase Faber led UCO with six tackles each. West and Grant Lohr each had solo sacks in the game while West and Slater also were credited with a half-sack each.

Central Oklahoma is home for the next two weeks. The Bronchos take on Northeastern State Thursday at 7 p.m. and then will host Fort Hays State on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Chad Richison Stadium.
