Mallory Hendrix Named MIAA Setter of the Week

UCO Freshman Led Team To Perfect 5-0 Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced Monday its weekly Volleyball Athletes of the Week and University of Central Oklahoma freshman Mallory Hendrix was named Setter of the Week following her standout performance.

Hendrix helped lead UCO to a perfect 5-0 week, including a 4-0 mark in the Broncho Invitational in earning all-tournament honors. The freshman racked up 153 assists, averaging 9.0 per set, while adding 21 kills, 46 digs, six blocks and four aces.
 
She took over as the main setter in the tournament, averaging 11.46 assists per set in those four matches. Hendrix had 47 assists, 16 digs and three kills in a four-set win over Western New Mexico.
 
Hendrix arrived at Central last fall but had her freshman season canceled due to the pandemic. Still a freshman in 2021, the Owasso, Oklahoma native has helped the Bronchos to a 7-1 record after two weeks of play this season.
 
UCO is back in action this weekend on the road. The Bronchos visit Pittsburg State Friday at 6 p.m. and Newman Saturday at 3 p.m. as MIAA play opens. Central Oklahoma returns home the following weekend and will host Fort Hays State Friday, Sept. 24 at Hamilton Field House.
