EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball has its 2021 signing class put together and one-by-one the future Bronchos will be unveiled on bronchosports.com in the month of June.
Up this week is DanQuez Dawsey.
A 6-foot-2 guard that will come to UCO this fall as a true freshman, Dawsey comes to Central from Lawton, Oklahoma. The Lawton MacArthur High School product earned All-State honors this past season and was a McDonald's All-American nominee. He also was recognized as a Native All-American and a Faith Seven all-star selection.
Dawsey scored over 1,500 points for the Lawton MacArthur Highlanders and also topped 500 rebounds, 250 assists and 250 steals.
He averaged 21 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game as a junior in leading Lawton Mac to the state tournament, which was ultimately canceled due to the pandemic.
Coming back in his senior season, Dawsey averaged 20.8 points per game and led Lawton Mac to its first-ever state championship game appearance. Although the Highlanders lost in that game, Dawsey scored 16 points in the championship.
He earned All-State honors again as a senior and comes to UCO as a two-time winner of that feat.
Central Oklahoma, winners of 22 conference or division championships, starts the 2021-22 season this November.
