UCO Downed In Game 2 At NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team dropped Game 2 of its MIAA series at Northeastern State Friday with a 10-0 setback.

Northeastern State scored two in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the fourth. One in the fifth and three in the sixth gave the Riverhawks all it needed for a run-rule victory.

Central Oklahoma took Game 1 9-0 before the Game 2 setback. The third and final game of the league series is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.

UCO managed just three hits in Game 2 Friday. Joe Mondragon, Shane Nixon and Ryan Harrel each had one. All were singles.

Jacob Bailey got the start for the Bronchos and threw four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. Only two of his runs were earned.

Colton Croft came on in relief of Bailey and threw one inning, allowing one run on one hit. Ethan Wayland allowed two runs on two walks and Zach Moore replaced him on the bump before recording an out. Moore got the final three outs, allowing one run on one hit and a walk.

Central Oklahoma is now 22-17 after the loss and will play NSU in the final game of the 2021 regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bronchos have qualified for the MIAA Tournament, which begins next weekend.
