Minter, Rivas Lead UCO Past Bearcats

MARYVILLE, Mo. (April 9) – Jacee Minter drove in four runs and Corrina Rivas threw a four-hit shutout as No. 18-ranked Central Oklahoma plastered Northwest Missouri 7-0 in the first game of a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheader Friday afternoon.

It was the ninth win in 10 outings for the league-leading Bronchos, who improved to 22-7 overall and 11-2 in conference play heading into Friday's nightcap.

Minter went 3-for-4 to lead a 10-hit attack, while Tarin Dubler and Amelya Huggins each had two hits.

Rivas was masterful in the circle, scattering four hits while striking out four and not walking a batter. It was the seventh complete game – and third shutout – of the season for the junior right-hander, who improved to 12-3.

"Corrina has been pitching well all season and she threw another great game today," head coach Cody White said. "It took us awhile to get the bats going, but Jacee gave us a big spark there."

It was a scoreless tie through four innings before UCO finally broke through in the top of the fifth to take control.

Huggins started things with a one-out walk, then Brighton Gilbert and Dubler had back-to-back singles to load the bases. Shayla Harper plated the game's first run on a sacrifice fly and Minter followed with her eighth home run of the season, this one a no-doubt, three-run blast to left-center field that made it 4-0.

The Bronchos added three insurance runs in the seventh, getting an RBI single from Minter along with sacrifice flies from Lexy Dobson and Taylor McKittrick.

Rivas then put the Bearcats down in order in the bottom of the seventh to complete the shutout.
