Biography

Team leader and dependable senior catcher who belongs among the elite players in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association … Became key offensive catalyst for the Bronchos last year and looks to follow that up with another strong showing in 2023 … Superb defender behind the plate, knows how to handle the pitching staff and possesses a strong arm that keeps would-be base-stealers at bay … Will fill main starting role at catcher, but should also see time at designated player and first base … Played freshman season at Division II rival West Texas A&M before coming to UCO, then retained a year of eligibility after 2020 campaign was cut short by COVID crisis.
 
2022: Put together splendid season in earning first-team All-MIAA honors along with Gold Glove recognition … Started all 61 games, finishing with .353 average to go along with 14 doubles, nine home runs and 42 runs batted in … Also drew school-record and league-leading 50 walks in finishing with .520 on-base percentage, second-best in the MIAA … Ranked sixth nationally in walks per game (0.82) … Had 15 multi-hit and 14 multi-RBI outings … Reached base in 29 straight games during one stretch … Hit .397 (27-for-68) with runners in scoring position … Made 55 starts at catcher, four at first base and two at DP and committed just three errors in 232 chances to finish with .987 fielding percentage … Had a 36-game errorless streak.
 
2021: Honorable mention All-MIAA selection after batting .309 with seven doubles, two homers and 19 RBI … Started in 38 of 39 games played, with 33 of those coming at catcher and five at DP … Put together seven multi-hit and six multi-RBI games … Hit .364 with six doubles, one homer and 11 RBI in 22 conference games … Batted .423 (11-for-26) when leading off an inning.

2020: Played in all 25 games with 24 starts, finishing with a .224 average that included six doubles and three homers … Shared team lead in homers and led the Bronchos in RBI with 22, with team-high 10 of those coming with two outs … Started 12 games at DP, 10 at catcher and two at third … Clubbed two homers and had five RBI in 9-2 win over Midwestern State … Had four straight two-RBI games during one stretch and finished with team-high six multi-RBI games.

WTAMU: Was one of the top freshmen in the Lone Star Conference in 2019, hitting .344 with five homers, two doubles and 30 RBI … Also drew 23 walks in finishing with stellar .533 on-base percentage … Played in 31 games with 23 starts, mostly at catcher … Tied school record with eight RBI in win over Eastern New Mexico, clubbing two homers in that contest … Had two other four-RBI games.

High School: Prep standout at Mustang High School, helping lead the Broncos to a pair of state championships … Four-time All-District selection.
