UCO Welcomes Rogers State To Edmond

Bronchos Working To Secure Home Playoff Game

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team hosts Rogers State Thursday night at Hamilton Field House in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

Central Oklahoma (9-7) hosts Rogers State (9-9) in a crucial MIAA tilt heading toward the final day of the 2021 regular season. Central was supposed to play at Rogers Monday but that game was postponed due to weather-related travel issues. UCO, which is averaging a league-high 88.3 points per game during the month of February, is currently fourth in the MIAA standings with two weeks to play. The Bronchos can't look back though, as teams four through nine in the standings are all within one game of each other.

UCO is averaging 78.5 points per game this season through 16 games played. That mark ranks fifth in the league. UCO is averaging an MIAA-best 88.3 points per game in the month of February and posted a season-high 101 points just last week. Central shoots 45.7 percent overall and 37.3 percent from behind the arc, averaging 8.4 made 3-pointers per game. UCO also shoots 73.9 percent from the free-throw line, averaging 15.2 makes per game there.

Isaiah Wade is averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game this season through 15 games played and is also Central's leading rebounder at 9.5 boards per game. Wade is shooting 54.8 percent from the floor overall this season, which ranks fourth in the MIAA. In the last four games, Wade has scored 94 points (25, 28, 26, 15). He's also pulled 43 rebounds in those three games (10, 13, 7, 13). Wade has six games this season with at least 10 rebounds.

Callen Haydon is second on the team scoring 13.3 points per game. The junior, and floor general, is also leading the team with 71 total assists through 16 games played. That mark ranks him seventh in the MIAA. His 4.4 assists per game mark is the fifth-best in the league. Haydon is also putting up impressive numbers shooting the basketball. He posts percentages of 55.6 (70-for-126 FGM-A), 65.4 (17-for-26 3PM-A) and 85.9 (55-for-64 FTM-A).

Camryn Givens ranks third in the lineup with 12.7 points per game. He is also the second-leading rebounder at 6.6 boards per game. An All-MIAA performer a year ago, Givens led Central in scoring for the first half of the season and maintains a top position. He's attempted 149 shots this season and posts a 47 percent mark from the floor. Givens is also second on the team with 24 made 3-pointers and is a combined 39-for-48 from the free-throw line this season.

Jaden Wells moved into the starting lineup when the calendar rolled over to 2021 and has been on a constant rise ever since. He is now averaging 8.9 points per game. Wells is the team leader from outside, having made 36 threes this season. He's 36-for-92 overall, a 39.1 percent mark. Wells has hit at least one three in 13 of 16 games, and has drained multiple threes in 11 of those. He has a season-high six made 3-pointers in a win over Lincoln last week. He also made five in a win over Emporia State two weeks ago.
