Bronchos Look To Settle The Score With Jets

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team is scheduled to host Newman Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.

Central Oklahoma (8-7) hosts Newman (2-14) in the second of two meetings between the two schools this season. The first meeting happened all the way back in 2020. Central is aiming to avenge a 90-68 loss to the Jets of Wichita, Kan. UCO is in the middle of its daunting February schedule of 12 games. The Bronchos are 3-2 through five of those games.

UCO is averaging 77.5 points per game this season. Central shoots 45.4 percent overall and 37.4 percent from behind the arc, averaging 8.2 made 3-pointers per game. UCO also shoots 73.5 percent from the free-throw line, averaging 15.1 makes per game there. Camryn Givens, Callen Haydon, Isaiah Wade, and Jaden Wells all lead Central Oklahoma's offensive output. Haydon ranks fourth in the MIAA and 16th nationally in assists and has 65 total through 15 games this season. Haydon's shooting percentages are also not just among the best in the lineup, but among the best in the league and the entire country. Haydon is shooting 56.8 percent (67-for-118) overall this season, 70.8 percent (17-for-24) from behind the arc, and 85.5 percent (53-for-62) from the free-throw line.

Isaiah Wade is averaging 14.8 points per game this season through 14 games played and is also Central's leading rebounder at 9.2 boards per game. Wade did not play in Central's loss at Newman in December. Wade is shooting 55.1 percent from the floor overall this season. He is fourth in the MIAA, one spot behind Haydon, in shooting percentage. In the last three games, Wade has scored 79 points (25, 28, 26). He's also pulled 30 rebounds in those three games (10, 13, 7).

Camryn Givens ranks third in the lineup with 12.9 points per game. He is also the second-leading rebounder at 6.5 boards per game. Givens led Central in scoring for the first half of the season and maintains a top position. He's attempted 141 shots and shoots 46.8 percent from the floor. Jaden Wells continues to raise his scoring output and is now averaging 8.8 points per game this season. Wells is the team leader from outside, having made 33 threes this season.
