Central Oklahoma Hosts Jarvis Christian

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team continues an early season homestand Wednesday when the Bronchos take on Jarvis Christian. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.
 
Jarvis Christian, and NAIA school from Hawkins, Texas, is 1-2 this season. The game will count as an exhibition for JCC.
 
"We're looking forward to another opportunity to compete and get better," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "We did some things pretty well last weekend and we know there are some things that we need to work on."
 
Central Oklahoma is 2-0 this season after picking up wins against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Mary (N.D.). The Bronchos beat NWOSU at Hamilton on Friday, winning 78-68. UCO beat Mary Saturday at Hamilton, earning a 80-71 win.
 
Isaiah Wade led Central in the first two games. The senior forward averaged 19.5 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. He shot 57.1 percent and knocked down two 3-pointers.
 
Camryn Givens averaged 16.0 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game. Also a forward, Givens also made two threes as Central's bigs kept the defenses honest.
 
Jaden Wells averaged 15 points per game and hit seven 3-pointers in two games. His numbers were bolstered by a 20-point outing Saturday in which he hit five from outside. It was the fifth time Wells has made at least five 3-pointers in just over one season of play.
 
Callen Haydon also averaged double figures for the Bronchos. He scored 10.5 per game on opening weekend. Haydon also averaged 6.5 assists per game and 3.5 rebounds per game.
 
Central Oklahoma as a team averaged 79.0 points per game, shooting 46.4 percent from the field. The Bronchos hit 16 threes as a team, making 40 percent of those shots. UCO also hit 38 free-throws in two games, making 80.9 percent of those attempts.
 
UCO will wrap up a three-game homestand to open the season Wednesday night. The Bronchos then play at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas on Saturday before taking a short break for Thanksgiving, and returning to Hamilton to play Cameron on Saturday, Nov. 27.
