Bronchos Welcome No. 13 Washburn To Hamilton Field House

Central Has Won Three Of Four In New Year

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team is scheduled to host Washburn Saturday at 3:30 p.m. inside Hamilton Field House.

The university is continuing its temporary policy to not allow spectators at athletic events. The game will air live on The MIAA Network and KOKC 95.3 FM.

Central Oklahoma is 4-5 this season following a win against Emporia State Thursday night. The win, UCO's third in four games, was the second win over ESU in seven days. Both were 12-point victories for the Bronchos.

Central is led by a trio of players averaging double figures this season. Camryn Givens, who leads the team at 13.3 points per game this season, is joined by Callen Haydon at 11.7 points per game, and Isaiah Wade at 10.5 points per game.

Givens adds 6.7 rebounds per game to his stat line. He's shooting 46 percent from the floor, 35 percent from behind the arc with 14 made 3-pointers in nine games, and 83.9 percent (26-for-31) from the free-throw line.

Haydon leads all Central players from the free-throw line. He's got a team-high 34 makes from the charity stripe this season and has also attempted more free-throws (40) than any other Broncho. Haydon's 85 percent mark ranks sixth in the MIAA. A junior from El Reno, Oklahoma, Haydon also averages 3.5 assists per game this season.

Wade has played in one less game, eight, than most of his teammates, but the senior from Oklahoma City is still posting big numbers for the Bronchos. He's at 10.5 points per game after scoring 12 Thursday night. He's also averaging a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game. That mark ranks sixth in the MIAA.

Jaden Wells has burst onto the scene as another option on offense for the Bronchos. The freshman from Hurst, Texas is averaging 7.1 points per game this season. That number jumps to 12.1 points per game over the past four games since Wells was moved into the starting lineup. A sharpshooter, Wells has made a team-high 16 3-pointers in nine games played this season. He's shooting 40 percent from behind the arc. In each of those last four games, Wells has made 3, 3, 2, and 5 from outside.

As a team the Bronchos average 72.4 points per game. UCO shoots 41.2 percent from the floor overall and 35.9 percent from 3-point range, making on average 7.9 threes per game. Central also shoots 72.8 percent from the free-throw line and averages 15.4 makes from the stripe per contest.

Washburn comes to Edmond ranked No. 13 in the country in this week's NABC Coaches' Poll and No. 12 in the country in this week's D2SIDA Media Poll. The Ichabods are 11-2 overall and are averaging 83.3 points per game. Washburn is led by Tyler Geiman, who averages 19.8 points per game, Jalen Lewis, who averages 12.1 points per game, Jonny Clausing, who averages 10.6 points per game, and Drew Maschoff, who averages 10 points per game. Geiman is the team's leading rebounder too at 6.4 boards per game.

The all-time series between these two schools is an even 16-16. Washburn has won three in a row and six of the last seven meetings. The two met this season in November in Topeka, Kansas with Washburn winning 81-71.

Central Oklahoma is due for another quick road trip next week. The Bronchos will travel to Nebraska Kearney next Thursday before heading to Fort Hays State on Saturday.
