UCO Visits Northwest Missouri

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team is scheduled to take on Northwest Missouri Saturday afternoon with tipoff scheduled 3:30 p.m.
 
Central Oklahoma has won two games in a row in the new year and is now 3-4 on the season. Northwest Missouri, ranked No. 3 in this week's national coaches' poll, is 9-1.
 
UCO is coming off a 12-point win at Emporia State Thursday night. The Bronchos also beat Central Missouri by 19 points last week. Central Oklahoma is averaging 73 points per game this season through seven games played. The Bronchos are shooting collectively 40.4 percent from the field, 34.2 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 74.2 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Camryn Givens leads Central's offense at 14.4 points per game. The junior forward is also averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. He's shooting 45.3 percent overall, 34.4 percent from three, and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line. Givens leads Central in made 3-pointers with 11 and is second on the team in both made free-throws (22) and attempted free-throws (26).
 
Callen Haydon leads the team from the free-throw line. An 85 percent shooter, Haydon is 34-for-40 from the charity stripe through seven games played. Haydon averages 11.4 points per game. He's shooting 42.6 percent from the floor and has made six 3-pointers. The junior point guard also averages 3.1 assists per game.
 
Isaiah Wade is up to 9.7 points per game after scoring 10 in Central's win Thursday night at Emporia State. Wade also averages a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. He shoots 46 percent from the floor and is 11-for-16 from the free-throw line this season. Wade has played in 6 of 7 UCO games.
 
Justin Nimmer (7.9) is the fourth leading scorer on the roster. He is shooting 39.2 percent and also averages 4.6 rebounds per game.
 
Jaden Wells is up to 6.0 points per game after two big games in the last seven days. Wells scored 13 points combined in his first five career games but scored 14 last Thursday in a win over Central Missouri and 13 this week in the win at Emporia. Wells has hit three 3-pointers in each of the last two games. He is 9-for-28 (32.1 percent) from behind the arc this season.
 
Northwest Missouri's only loss this season was a two-point setback in overtime against Washburn earlier this month. The Bearcats, which are still ranked No. 1 in the country in the media poll, average 79.4 points per game and allow just 66.2.
 
Northwest is led by Ryan Hawkins, who scores 20.4 points per game. Trevor Hudgins is a close second at 19.2 points per game. Diego Bernard (12.7) and Wes Dreamer (10.0) also average double figures. Hawkins is the team's leading rebounder too at 7.2 boards per game.
 
Central Oklahoma is looking to end a long skid against Northwest Missouri. The Bearcats lead the all-time series 14-3 and have won eight in a row. The last Broncho victory against Northwest came in 2013-14.
 
UCO will return home next week. The Bronchos are scheduled to play host to Emporia State and Washburn.
