EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team announced the signing of Callen Haydon to a national letter of intent. Haydon is an El Reno, Okla. native and Connors State transfer.
"Callen led the nation in assists," Bill Muse said. His junior college head coach added. "He plays extremely hard and competes on every possession. He is a winner that makes big shots."
A First Team All-OCAC pick, Haydon also earned First Team All-Region honors from the NJCAA this past season after averaging 16.7 points and 10 assists per game. The sophomore led the country in assists. He also averaged 2.1 steals per game in leading CSC to a 22-9 record.
Haydon went to Connors State after a brilliant career at El Reno High School. He averaged over 25 points per game during his senior season. In the state tournament that year, he scored 48 in a quarterfinal win for El Reno. Haydon was among the state leaders in scoring both his junior and senior year. He earned All-State honors following his senior campaign, when he led El Reno to the Class 5A state semifinals.
Central Oklahoma men's basketball has won over 1,300 games all-time. The Bronchos have won 22 conference or division championships and have had 22 student-athletes named All-American.
