Central Hosts UNK For Senior Day

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team hosts Nebraska Kearney at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2019-20 regular season finale at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos are 17-9 on the season and have an 11-7 record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. UNK is 25-4 overall and 14-4 in league play. Both schools have qualified for the MIAA Tournament next weekend in Kansas City, Mo.

Central Oklahoma will honor three seniors prior to tipoff. Shatoya Bryson, Micayla Haynes, and McKenna Pulley will all play their final home game Saturday.

Bryson has played in 119 games for the Bronchos over the past four seasons, making 63 starts. The guard from Spencer, Okla. is the third-leading scorer for the Bronchos this season, averaging 8.9 points per game. Bryson also leads the team in assists (87) and steals (54). She ranks fifth in the MIAA in steals.

Bryson has, in her career, scored 850 points and pulled down 403 rebounds. She ranks 24th in school history in scoring and 17th in school history in rebounding.

Haynes transferred to Central Oklahoma after two seasons at Arkansas Fort Smith. The guard from Guthrie, Okla. earned conference freshman of the year honors at UAFS and was an all-conference selection before coming to UCO. Since then, she's continued top play.

Haynes averages 11.9 points per game this season and leads the team with 48 made 3-pointers. She's averaging 12.2 points per game in her time at Central, having scored 686 points in two seasons.

Pulley also transferred to UCO before her junior seasons. The forward from Newkirk, Okla. spent two seasons at Northern Oklahoma in Enid, then came to UCO and proceeded to help the Bronchos in various roles over the past two seasons.

Pulley has totaled 274 points in two seasons, to go with 150 rebounds. She's a 40 percent career shooter and makes a blistering 85 percent of her free-throws. Pulley also owns a career-high 14 points in a win over Oklahoma Christian during her junior season.

Central Oklahoma is looking to avenge a loss at Kearney two weeks ago. The Bronchos and the Lopers have split 16 all-time meetings with eight wins apiece.
