Central Oklahoma Picked Second In Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team was picked second in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's 2020 Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Thursday.

Central Oklahoma opens the 2020 season next Friday, Jan. 31. The Bronchos are hosting for the second year the Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field. It features the second, third, fourth, and fifth-rated teams in the MIAA according to Thursday's coaches' poll.
 
UCO went 38-20 last season and played in the NCAA Central Region II finals. It was the third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Bronchos. Fifth-year head coach John Martin, who has won 142 games in four seasons at Central, leads a team of 20 returning letterman, including seven pitchers, and 17 newcomers, 10 pitchers, into the new season.
 
Martin led UCO to the MIAA Championship game in 2017, won the league title in 2018, and played again for the championship in 2019.
