Central Oklahoma Visits Pittsburg State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team wraps up a quick, two-game road trip Saturday when the Bronchos take on Pittsburg State at John Lance Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
 
UCO takes a 6-9 overall record in Pittsburg, with a 3-3 MIAA record in hand. UCO had its three-game MIAA win streak snapped on Thursday night at Missouri Southern. Pittsburg State is 6-8 overall this season and has a 2-3 record in league play. PSU beat Newman on Thursday night.
 
UCO as a team is averaging 69.9 points per game through 15 games this season. The Bronchos shoot 44.1 percent from the field overall and 29.9 percent from behind the arc. Central hits 74.6 percent of its free-throws, making 265 shots from the line so far this season. UCO leads the MIAA in free-throws made and attempted (355) and is fourth in team free-throw percentage.
 
Dashawn McDowell, Dashon Bell, Camryn Givens, and Justin Nimmer have been key players in the Central offense this season. McDowell is the team's leading scorer at 13.2 points per game. He's scored in double figures in 10 of 15 games this season and is also the team's second leading rebounder at 5.4 boards per game. McDowell led the Bronchos in scoring on Thursday night despite leaving the game with a shoulder injury.
 
Bell is averaging 8.9 points per game this season and is second on the team behind McDowell in several categories, including free-throws. Bell has made 44 of 58 attempts from the line this season, a 75 percent mark. Givens, who averages 8.9 points per game like Bell, also averages 5.4 rebounds per game like McDowell.
 
Givens 13 made 3-pointers are also second on the team. Nimmer averages 8.3 points 5.2 rebounds per game. Cooper Clark, who averages 5.3 points per game, and Colt Savage, who scores 5.9 points per game, help out as well. Savage has a team-high 17 made 3-pointers.
 
Pittsburg State enters the game averaging 76.1 points per game this season. The Gorillas are led by Jah-Kobe Womack, who scores 13.8 points per game. Womack leads the team with 29 made 3-pointers through 14 games played. Dejon Walters Jr. averages 10.2 poitns per game this season, while A.J. Walker, who has only appeared in seven of 14 games, averages 18 points per game. Christian Edmondson, who scores 76 points per game, is the team's leading rebounder at 8.0 per game.
 
Central Oklahoma owns a 16-13 advantage in the all-time series, which saw its first installment in the 1938-39 season. Pitt State has won the past two meetings. Central's last win came in the 2017-18 regular season, 91-88, on a buzzer beating 3-pointer. PSU also won the following matchup, 77-76, last season on a buzzer beating 3-pointer from halfcourt.
 
Central Oklahoma hosts rival Northeastern State on Wednesday night.
