McLeod Earns MIAA Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 16) -- Central Oklahoma's Sydney McLeod has been named Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

It's the third time for McLeod to earn the honor and came after a dominating performance in the circle last week as the No. 2-ranked Bronchos swept a pair of doubleheaders.

The junior left-hander went 2-0 with an 0.00 earned run average while pitching 12 innings. She allowed just five hits and no runs while walking only two batters and striking out seven as opponents hit a paltry .119 against her.

McLeod threw a complete-game two-hitter in a 6-0 win over Central Missouri, then came back the next day to allow three hits in going the first five innings of an 8-0 run-rule rout of Southwest Baptist.

UCO, 35-3 on the season and atop the league standings at 17-1, open their final regular-season homestand Friday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Emporia State.
