Hughes Paces Bronchos In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 4) – Alexander Hughes eagled a par-4 to highlight a three-under-par 69 in leading Central Oklahoma on the second day of the Las Vegas Desert Classic Tuesday.

The Bronchos knocked 16 shots off their first-round score with a three-over 298 at the 6,962-yard, par-72 Royal Links Golf Club but still fell from 11th to 12th in the standings. West Florida leads the 15-team field at 566, followed by Missouri-St. Louis (569) and St. Mary's (574).

UCO, playing in their first tournament of the spring season, also got 74s from Blake Murray, Cody Troutman and Jacob Lackey while Joe Lemieux added a 76.

Hughes started his round on No. 12 with a bogey, but got that back on the next hole and then offset another bogey on No. 16 with a birdie on the par-5 18th.

The senior then played the front nine in three-under 33, making eagle on the par-4 fifth and adding a birdie on the par-4 seventh. Hughes bogeyed No. 10 before capping his day with a birdie on the par-4 11th.
