EDMOND –
The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team hosts Fort Hays State on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos are 10-14 on the season overall and 3-12 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association matchups. UCO faced Fort Hays State earlier in the season in Hays, Kan. and took a 90-84 loss in the game.

"Fort Hays is a really solid team." UCO head coach Tom Hankins said. "They took the win earlier in the season, but I know our guys have executed better since then and have a chip on their back now. We need to crash the boards and not allow them to get second chance points."

Adarius Avery leads the Bronchos averaging 20 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. He leads the MIAA in rebounding. The senior is the only player in the MIAA averaging a double-double. He also leads the team in blocks (14) and steals (30).

Josh Holliday averages 8.5 points per game and leads the Bronchos in 3-point field goals made at 38. Jordan Hemphill averages 8.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.

UCO averages 78 points a game and shoots 44 percent from the field. The Bronchos are ranked second in the conference in free-throw percentage at 78 percent. They are outrebounding their opponent on the offensive end 231-187.

Fort Hays State is 15-9 overall and 9-6 in the MIAA after defeating Lincoln last week. In the matchup against the Bronchos earlier in the season, Marcus Cooper led the Tigers with 24 points. Jared Vitztum had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bronchos shot 45 percent from the field against Fort Hays State. Avery had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Marquis Johnson added 12 points in that matchup.

UCO will continue their season on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Nebraska Kearney at 3:30 p.m. Next week they will face Northeastern State for the second time this season on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
