EDMOND –
The University of Central Oklahoma football team is slated to host Northeastern State Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play at Wantland Stadium.

The Bronchos will kickoff against the Riverhawks for the 79th time in the series that dates back to 1915. The game is played annually for The President's Cup – a trophy won and held by UCO for the past five years. Central has a 49-27-2 all-time record in the series.

Central Oklahoma enters the Week 10 matchup with a 4-5 record this season. The Bronchos won two in a row in Weeks 2 & 3, and have won two in a row again over the past two weeks. Northeastern State comes to Edmond with an 0-9 record. NSU is looking for its first win since Oct. 28, 2017. The Riverhawks have lost 22 straight coming into this week.

Central looks to ride the momentum of a big, 52-27 win last week in Edmond. Chandler Garrett ran the ball for 272 yards last Saturday, the second-most by any player in school history. His 272 yards is the most by a quarterback this season and is also the most by any player in the MIAA this season.

A junior, Garrett has a team-high in both passing yards (716) and rushing yards (635). Garrett is a combined 49-for-93 with 716 yards passing this season and has thrown eight touchdowns. He has 101 carries for 635 yards and has ran for nine touchdowns.

The Bronchos do have plenty of other weapons on offense too. T.J. Roberts, who scored three rushing touchdowns last Saturday, has 102 carries for 539 yards and six scores this season.

In the passing game, Dustin Basks leads the way for the Bronchos with 39 catches for 663 yards and six touchdowns. Amonte Phillips has 33 catches for 430 yards and four touchdowns.

UCO as a team averages 31.8 points per game and averages 408.2 yards of offense per game. The Bronchos average 227.8 yards passing and 180.4 yards rushing per outing.

Defensively, Central is led by a talented group. O'Shay Harris has a team-high 61 tackles this season and has three pass breakups and one fumble recovery. Jeremiah Hill adds 52 tackles and Jakarri Hunt, who has missed the last two games, has 48 stops. Drequan Brown's four sacks leads the team. Kolby Underwood's three interceptions is a team high. And Daniel Baughman, who was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week last week, has a team-high 10 passes defended.

NSU as a team averages 9.5 points per game and allows 60.4. The Riverhawks average 243 yards per game (138 passing and 104 rushing).

UCO will wrap up the 2019 regular season next weekend with an MIAA road trip to Emporia State. That Week 11 matchup is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
