Central Meets Old Foe In Lawton

LAWTON, Okla. –
The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team returns to the road Saturday when the Bronchos take on Cameron in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
 
Central Oklahoma is 3-4 this season and takes a two-game win streak to Lawton. Cameron is 0-5 this season.
 
UCO leads the all-time series against Cameron, owning a 61-35 record against the Aggies. The 96 meetings are the eighth-most for Central Oklahoma against another school. The schools have not met since the 2011-12 season, a 91-81 win for the Bronchos.
 
Central continues to be led by junior forward Dashawn McDowell. The Oklahoma City native is averaging 13.1 points per game this season. He's averaging 19 per game during UCO's brief two-game win streak. McDowell is shooting 56 percent from the floor this season and is also averaging 4.7 rebounds per game.
 
Justin Nimmer, who plays a team-high 29.7 minutes per game, is second on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per game. The redshirt freshman is also second on the team, pulling down 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
Dashon Bell (8.3) and Camryn Givens (8.1) also chip in on the scoring load. Bell has a team-high 21 assists through seven games while Givens is the team's leading rebounder at 5.4 per game.
 
Central Oklahoma as a team averages 66.4 points per game and shoots on average 44 percent from the floor. UCO also shoots 70 percent from the free-throw line and averages 14 makes from the stripe per contest.
 
Cameron averages 65.8 points per game as a team this season, shooting 37.9 percent from the floor. The Aggies allow 80.8 per game. Brock Schreiner leads the team in scoring with a 12.8 points per game mark. Kendall Scott (10.8), Tyler Williams (10.4), and Jordan Lewis (10.0) give Cameron four in double figures per outing. Scott's eight rebounds per game leads the team.
 
UCO will start a four-game road trip with Saturday's game at Cameron. The Bronchos will play at Rogers State and at Northeastern State next weekend as conference play opens up. UCO will then face Oral Roberts in an exhibition in Tulsa before returning to Edmond to face Oklahoma Baptist Dec. 17.
