Central Oklahoma Hosts Southern Nazarene

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team will host Southern Nazarene Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.

The Bronchos are 3-0 on the season. SNU is 1-0.

Central will look to maintain its high-scoring attack this weekend. The Bronchos have scored at least 80 points in each of its first three contests this season. It's the first time since the 2008-09 season that feat has been accomplished and only the second time in school history (50 seasons) that it's been done. UCO has never scored 80 points in four straight games to open a season.

A trio of players averaging 13 points per game has sparked the offensive effort, and a deep supporting cast is aiding in the effort as well.

Micayla Haynes has a team-high 13.7 points per game average after three games, Jaci Littell is averaging 13.3 per game, and Brooke Rayner, who has come off the bench in all three games, is averaging 12.7.

Haynes has the season-high for UCO, scoring 23 points in the season-opener against Mary. Littell scored 21 that day as well. Rayner scored a game-high 16 points in the Bronchos's win over Arkansas-Fort Smith earlier this week.

Kelsey Johnson and Kaci Richardson are both averaging eight points per game and are the two leading rebounders for the Bronchos as well. Johnson has a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game average after three games, while Richardson is pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game.

Lauren Chancellor (6 PPG), and Shatoya Bryson, Clary Donica, Aliyah Llanusa, and McKenna Pulley – all 5 PPG – help give Central a deep rotation with the ability to score all over the floor.

UCO is also getting it done on the defensive end of the floor. The Bronchos are only allowing 58.7 points per game through three games this season. Central also forces 22.7 turnovers per game and is nabbing 12.3 steals per game.

Southern Nazarene is just 1-0 on the season, with a 30-point win over Minot State in Bethany last weekend. The Crimson Storm put up 77 points, led by Sonia Sarda (19), Jaycee Soap (18), and Alexus Jones (14).

Saturday will be Game 2 of a four-game homestand for the Bronchos. UCO will host Cameron next Saturday before hosting Harding on Nov. 26.
