UCO Takes On Lindenwood Thursday

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team travels to Missouri to take on Lindenwood on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
 
The Bronchos are 8-9 on the season overall and 1-7 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.
 
"This will be a good matchup." UCO head coach Tom Hankins said. "They have big guys that can get to the basket and put up big numbers, so we will need to play good defense and execute on offense."
 
UCO is led by senior Adarius Avery, who is averaging 20 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The Memphis, Tenn. native had a season high 16 rebounds in last week's matchup against Missouri Southern. He currently leads the team in total assists with 52 and averages 3.1 per game. Avery also has a total of 23 steals, 1.4 per game.
 
Avery ranks fourth in the league in scoring, first in the league in rebounding, and is tied for seventh in the MIAA in steals.
 
Ashford Golden averages 16.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He has a total of 10 blocks and 14 steals. Marquis Johnson averages 7.4 points per game, and a team-high 3.2 assists per game. Johnson is also tied, with Avery, for seventh in the league in steals at 1.4 per game.
 
The Bronchos average 79.1 points and 34.9 rebounds per game. They continue to lead the MIAA in free-throw percentage with 79.5 percent. Central Oklahoma's defense out steals their opponents 121-92.
 
Lindenwood is 10-9 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA conference after defeating Central Missouri last week, 62-57.
 
Brad Newman leads their team, averaging 19.1 points. He had a season high against Central Missouri with 27 points. Chandler Diekvoss averages 16.2 points and Diego Womack averages 8.2.
 
The Bronchos continue their two games on the road playing Lincoln on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. They will then head home for two games, taking on Southwest Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Central Missouri that following Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
