UCO Set To Take On Tigers

HAYS, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team is set to take on Fort Hays State Saturday, Jan. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action at Gross Coliseum.

The Bronchos are 8-6 on the year and 1-4 in league play after defeating Nebraska-Kearney Thursday evening. UCO shot 51.7 percent from the field and connected 8 of 20 threes.

Adarius Avery leads UCO averaging 19.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The senior has 19 steals, nine blocks, and 44 assists on the season. Avery has scored in double figures in all 14 games this season for the Bronchos and has seven double-doubles.

Ashford Golden averages 15.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and a total of nine blocks. Josh Holliday and Jaylan Williams both average 8.4 points per game.

The Bronchos average 78.9 points as a team and 35.2 rebounds a game. UCO has a +4.6 margin in the scoring column and a +0.1 margin on the boards. Central Oklahoma has outrebounded its opponents by a mere two this season. UCO continues to outshine the competition on steals, 111-76. The Bronchos lead the MIAA in free-throw percentage with 80 percent.

Fort Hays is 10-4 in the regular season and 4-1 in league play after defeating Northeastern State on Thursday evening in a close game.

Brady Werth leads the Tigers averaging 15.3 points and 6.6 rebounds. Cooper Marcus averages 14 points and 4.6 rebounds. He leads the team in steals, with 21. Both guys had double figures in the win against NSU. Werth added 16 and Marcus added 22.

The Bronchos continue their season with two home games next week. They will take on Pittsburg State on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Missouri Southern on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
